because he would never tell her
every day goes by
for this life is never ending
and every day
he keeps it inside
and secretly wills
wills her to say it
so he won't have to
he wonders, often he ponders
whether he can control
what comes, often quickly
and hopelessly distorted,
out of his mouth
he guesses he can
but she seems to like him for it
she laughs as he stumbles over words
she knows he understands
she stood up for him once
she's already over it
she's resigned it forever to the past
but he'll never forget
is he feeble
and weak
to dream?
Of them together
not forever though
he knows, it would never last
she's destined for destiny
and he's fated for fate
he wants many things
but he never gets what he desperately wants
only the things
he has to need
he would give it up for her
but of course, he's not perfect
no where close
he's set back
a child almost
in this huge body
as if he's wearing
a life to big for him
with its sleeves
draping down to his knees
somehow she saw past most of the that
somehow
but she could never love him
as he loves her
she could never even understand him
truly
he's tried before
and she's tried right on back
but nothing could come of it
so he's given up
and thats why he's here
instead of where the rest of them play
in his dreams she comes in
understands and agrees
feels and assuages
it comforts him
these dreams
he turns to the noise
hoping its not the Threes
the malicious boys
he always manages to narrowly escape
and as he wheels around
he stops dead in his tracks
